General purpose alloy for brazing cemented carbides and steel

For applications where a larger carbide piece is joined to a tool steel backing, it is advantageous to thicken the joint by using one of the available tri-foil brazing materials.  These materials consist of a base metal layer (copper) that is coated on each side with brazing alloy.  The resulting joint will absorb the stress of the components that usually arises during cooling period after brazing and will therefore significantly reduce the amount of cracking.  Normally, the tri-foil materials are supplied using a standard thickness ratio of 1:2:1 for braze material : copper layer : braze material.  Custom ordered ratios like 1:1:1 and 1:3:1 are possible.  Brazco can supply tri-foil materials in slit form, packed on pancake spools, with a starting width of 1.5 mm, or in master coils, up to 80mm wide.   Tri-foils using other non-standard braze materials are also possible.
